The fried pickles are the best! I take out of town guests here all the time, just to have the pickles and the veggie burgers . . . .yum! Also, you can't beat the bloody mary with a side of PBR :-)

Their fried pickles make me happy! I wish these guys worked with Raleigh Take Out so it could be delivered, that would rule!

I give a 99% perfect score for the Raleigh Times. They have a unique beer selection, good food for little money, indie music pumping, some serious nostalgia for atmosphere, no smoking (its next door in The Smoking Times), outdoor seating on the street, and the best bloody mary in town.
The bloody mary is more of a kit. You get a spicy homemade bloody mary, with a half pint of PBR for a chaser, and a small glass with a big cucumber wedge, hot peppers and olives all for around $7. And the Raleigh Times veggie burger is consistently hands down the best I've ever had. Last night I tried the real meat burger and while it wasn't bad, the veggie burger is even better.
The only thing stopping me from popping this place to 100% score in my book is the damn TV at the bar. Sigh. At least there is only one near the back so its fairly easy to avoid.
