Right Direction, Inc., a comprehensive mental health care provider based in Raleigh, NC, is searching for qualified paraprofessionals to work with English and Spanish-speaking youth in the Wake County area in a mentoring capacity. All Spanish-speaking paraprofessionals must be fully bilingual so as to be able to attend trainings, fill out paperwork and communicate effectively with an English-speaking supervisor.
All candidates must possess a current, valid driver's license, pass a criminal records check, and comply with a Healthcare Registry check to adhere with the standards of employment.
<u>Main Function: </u> Serves as a positive role model, mentor and companion. Provide the Consumer(s) with instructions and assistance to enable the individual(s) to acquire, maintain or promote his/her skills to facilitate independently in home, community or group home setting. Provides habilitative training coupled with the elements of support, supervision and engaging the individual(s) with any array of integrated activities as identified in the Person Centered Plan.
<u>Qualifications:</u>
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent. Must be at least 18 years old, able to read, write and follow directions and comprehend; able to complete/pass all State-mandated trainings. Upon hiring, an individualized supervision plan shall be developed and reviewed annually. Supervision shall be provided by a Qualified Professional or an Associate Professional with the population served monthly.
<u>General Duties/Responsibilities:</u>
Establishes a caring, therapeutic relationship with consumers. Provides appropriate habilitative and personal care while ensuring that clients' safety, health and well-being are maintained.
Correctly implements individualized treatment plans, including participating with the consumer during activities in the community.
Demonstrates an understanding of client rights and confidentiality and ensures these rights are protected.
Understands communication techniques/strategies to support the consumer.
Participates in the Person Centered Plan development and in maintaining a therapeutic living environment for consumers, when applicable.
Provides transportation for consumers as defined in the Person Centered Plan.
Completes minimal training requirements. Attends all training sessions as required by the agency.
Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Please note that most of the hours of this position are after regular 9-5 working hours. Many of our current paraprofessionals take this position as a second job.
